TRURO, N.S. – A free, downtown shuttle service is being offered for those wanting to attend the upcoming World Junior A Challenge hockey tournament at the RECC.

The daily service is being offered by the Downtown Truro Partnership (DTP) for each day of the tourney, which runs from Dec. 10 to 16.

“We have been looking for ways to build a stronger connection between downtown Truro and the RECC Centre,” said Nick Sharpe, director of Partnerships and Events at the RECC. “And we are excited that this daily shuttle service will help to accomplish just that.”

The shuttle will be running between downtown and the RECC before the afternoon games and after the evening games. The service is on a first-come, first-served basis and limited seating will be available.

The shuttle schedule follows:

– Dec. 10 to 15 – Downtown to RECC, 2:15-3:15 p.m.; return from RECC to downtown – 9:30-10:30 p.m.

– Dec. 16 (gold-medal game) – Downtown to RECC, 1:30-2:45 p.m.; return from RECC to downtown, 5-6 p.m.

The downtown pick-up/drop-off locations are Prince Street, in front of NovelTea and the Corner of Young and Prince streets, in front of the Truro Farmers’ Market.

For information about tickets to the games, log onto ratheastlinkcommunitycentre.ca/wjac.

Other current DTP activities include photos with Santa at the Truro Farmers’ Market on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays as well as free horse and wagon rides on Friday evenings leading up to Christmas outside the Truro Public Library.
