Blackmore, from Millbrook, picked up an assist for the Moncton Wildcats in a 6-2 loss to the Halfax Mooseheads at Scotiabank Centre.

The 17-year-old forward, who plays midget AAA for the Weeks Major Midgets, was signed by the Wildcats as a free agent last week.

Blackmore earned his assist in the second period by being hard on the forecheck and creating a turnover behind the Mooseheads net. Teammate Julien Tessier swooped in, picked up the puck and centred to Alex Renaud, who beat Blade Mann-Dixon to make it a 3-2 game at the time.

Blackmore, a Grade 12 student at CEC, leads the Nova Scotia Major Midget AAA Hockey League in scoring with 19 goals and 30 assists in 28 games.
