Bearcats slip past Wildcats in pre-season action

TRURO, N.S. – Aaron Greenham’s power-play goal at 15:54 of the second period was the eventual winner as the Truro Bearcats edged the Valley Wildcats 3-2 Wednesday in pre-season Maritime Junior Hockey League action.

The teams meet again on Saturday at the RECC at 7 p.m.

Dylan Burton and Elliott MacIsaac also scored for the Bearcats Wednesday in the team’s first game of the pre-season. Quinn MacDonald had two assists and was named the game’s first star.

Drew Packman and Makail Parker replied for the Wildcats in front of 653 fans at the Kings Mutual Century Centre in Berwick.

Bible Hill’s Riley MacInnis, the second overall pick in the MHL June draft, assisted on Parker’s goal. Debert defenceman Cameron Allaby was also in the Wildcats lineup.

Bearcats goaltender Kevin Resop, a former Halifax Moosehead, made 23 saves to pick up the win. His teammates fired 39 shots at Wildcats netminder Cole MacLaren.
