The game, which was scheduled for the RECC, has been called off due to problems at the arena created by humidity.
A new dehumidification system at the RECC is expected to be installed soon. The new system will be able to remove the 600 to 800 pounds of moisture per hour compared to the 80 pounds per hour the current system can expel.
Following is a statement from RECC general manager Matt Moore that has posted to the Bearcats Facebook page:
“The extreme humidity outside is affecting visibility and ice conditions in the arena. The current status of the new dehumidifier installation is on-going but we felt that is was best to cancel to ensure the safety of the players. We are confident that the installers will have the new unit up and running before the regular season home opener Sat Sept 16.”
The Bearcats and Crushers met last night in Pictou County. Truro took a 2-0 record into that exhibition tilt.
