SALMON RIVER – With the championship on the line, Alex Field came up clutch in the final game of the novice division in the Truro and Area Ball Hockey League.

Field netted a hat trick on Tuesday night to lead the Sharks to a 6-3 victory over the Leafs and claim the league title.

After a stalemate start, the Sharks got out to a lead when Hudson Lynds opened the scoring with just over eight minutes to go in the first period. Lynds blasted a point shot past Leafs goaltender Maddox MacKay to go up 1-0.

Four minutes later, Field turned on the Alex Field Show and kept the offense rolling. After deking around a defender in the low slot, Field went shelf over top of the goaltender to grab a 2-0 lead.

Drew Williams would add another to make it 3-0, before Jakob Schwartz closed out the first period with a Leafs goal.

The Leafs would take another chip off the lead early in the second period with a Connor Whooten goal. The Leafs would keep it close until the dying minutes of the period, when Field scored two goals a minute apart, and Matt Vohra added the Sharks sixth goal a minute later.

Isaac Crowe would add a third goal late in the dying seconds for the Leafs, but the damage had been done. The Sharks held on to strike gold.

The Sharks take home the playoff title after leading the regular season in the standings, with just one loss all season.
