Local golfers make cut at Men’s Amateur


KINGSTON – After two rounds at the MCT Insurance Men’s Amateur, four local golfers have made the cut.

Chris Topshee and Robert Watt sit tied at the head of the Colchester contingent, with both men tied for 18th place at +12. Topshee turned in a solid round of +3 on Thursday after a disappointing +9 opening round. Watt, meanwhile, shot back-to-back rounds of +6.

Paul Coulson is one shot back of the others, at +13 with rounds of +4 and +9. Jeff van Wart, meanwhile, is at the cut line with a +21 total through two days.

Truro Golf Club young guns Evan Starratt and Patrick Jackson failed to make the cut, with Jackson at +23 and Starratt at +28.

Bradford Curren of Oakfield Country Club is at the front of the pack with an even total, shooting a tournament-high 69 on Thursday.

Play gets underway for Round Three tomorrow morning, with the championship round on Saturday.
