Colchester County golf courses open for the new season

TRURO, N.S. – As the sun comes out, so do the clubs.

Truro Golf Club opened its fairways and greens on Monday under sunny skies and warm temperatures.

The competitive season at Truro Golf Club includes a Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour event May 26-27, the ladies June Bug Classic June 2-3, the Truro Invitational men’s tournament June 16-17 and the Nova Scotia Golf Association amateur and senior women’s championships July 6 to 8.

Truro will also host the Canadian blind golf championship Aug. 15-17.

Brookfield Golf and Country Club opens today, while Fox Hollow, near Stewiacke, is also open for business.

In West Colchester, the Debert Golf Club is expected to open soon. The club will host a volunteer work day on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon for anyone interested in helping with early season maintenance, such as raking leaves and removing fallen branches from the course. Food and refreshments will be provided.

The Links at Penn Hills, near Shubie, opened earlier this month.
