Truro's Pinkney unbeaten at national masters event

Nova Scotia improved to 4-1 at the Canadian junior women's curling championship on Tuesday.
Colleen Pinkney's Truro rink has won its first two games at the national masters championship in B.C.

WHITE ROCK, B.C. – Colleen Pinkney’s Truro rink is off to a 2-0 start at the Canadian masters women’s curling championship.

The Pinkney foursome, which also includes third Marg Cutcliffe, second Karen Henniger and lead Susan Creelman, edged New Brunswick’s Nancy Steele 7-6 on Monday and later thumped the Yukon’s Ellen Johnson 7-1.  

Nova Scotia returns to the ice Tuesday evening against P.E.I.’s Sandy Hope.

In the men’s draw, Nova Scotia’s Gregory Hicks lost his opening two games, falling 6-1 to Manitoba and 9-6 to Newfoundland and Labrador.
