Cougars take bronze at JV hoops provincials

TRURO, N.S. – The Cobequid Cougars brought home the bronze medal from the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation junior varsity boys basketball championship.

The Cougars defeated Auburn Drive 78-65 in the third-place game at Dartmouth High School.

Liston Vogel led the Cougars with 17 points, while Jacob Sylliboy added 16 and Seth Faulkner had 13. Jarrin MacLean and Ivan Agcon chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Cobequid opened the tournament with a 79-44 triumph over host Dartmouth in a quarterfinal game. Faulkner poured in 38 points, while Sylliboy added 15 and Vogel had 11.

In an 80-67 loss to Horton in a semifinal, Sylliboy pumped in 22 points and Faulkner threw down 16.

Top-ranked Citadel defeated Horton 87-63 in the championship game.
