TRURO, N.S. – Hayden Roy’s second goal of the game, coming less than a minute into overtime, sealed the deal for the CEC Cougars as they claimed the Northumberland Region’s high school hockey banner.

The Cobequid Educational Centre squad swept the best-of-three regional final in two games, as they downed North Nova 3-1 in the opener, before wrapping it up with the 2-1 overtime victory.

In the opener, Luke Smith, Cody MacDonald and Jackson Haight accounted for the Cougars’ scoring, with Connor Miller, Smith and Kyle Stuart chipping in with assists.

In Game 2, Miller and Weston Porter picked up assists, helping out with Roy’s scoring.

Netminder Steven Jackson earned both wins for the Cougars.

With the win, CEC books a trip to provincials, while North Nova takes on the loser of the Cape Breton finals for a qualifying berth at provincials.
