NAPANEE, ONT. – The Colchester Royals opened with a pair of wins at the 2018 U19 men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship, hosted by Napanee, Ont.
On Tuesday, the Royals downed the Belmore Sting of Ontario, 9-2. In their other outing, Colchester trimmed Chayee Bourras of Newfoundland and Labrador 7-4.
Against Belmore, pitcher David Watson took the win, going five innings and giving up just one hit, with just one of the runs earned.
The Royals outhit the Sting 12-1. Cameron Patton had three hits, including a home run and a pair of singles, along with three RBIs, while Carson Lanceleve had two singles and a double and drove in two, Brendan Walker had a single and a double, and Rowan Sears had a double.
The Royals dominance at the plate continued against Chayee Bourras as Colchester held a 10-3 advantage in hits.
Patton went 3-for-4 with three singles, and Lanceleve and Keegan Crowell each had two singles,
Nathan Landry was the winning pitcher, going the distance and giving up just the three hits, while striking out six.
Today (Wednesday) the Royals take on the host Napanee Express at noon (AT) and Saskatchewan’s Delisle Pride at 7:15 (AT).
