Colchester Royals lose to Chepstow to drop to 3-5 at nationals in Napanee

NAPANEE, ONT. – The Colchester Royals came up against a tough DC Chepstow Lang Farms (ON) team Friday night and dropped an 8-1 decision in a five-inning, mercy rule-shortened game.

The loss leaves the Royals’ record at three wins against five losses at the 2018 U19 Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship in Napanee, Ont.

Chepstow made the most of their opportunities with just six hits compared to Colchester’s four. They scored in each of the first four inning, including three in the second.

The Royals’ only run came in the second inning. Callum Bouma tripled to drive in Carson Lanceleve. Rowan Sears, Morgan Malay and Lanceleve each singled for Colchester.

Pitcher Nathan Landry took the loss.

At 5 p.m. (AT) the Royals will play against the Delisle Pride of Saskatchewan.
