VALLEY, N.S.
Children from all over Colchester County gathered in the Redcliff Middle School gym to compete in the Knights of Columbus’ 46th annual Basketball Free Throw contest Saturday morning.
The contest was free for children ages 8 to 14, and offered free pizza, drinks and participation awards to whoever took a shot at the competition.
Participants were divided into groups based on their age, and were given a set number of shots, to score as many free throws as they could.
The top three of each group were awarded medals, with the first-place winners of each group receiving a trophy and a berth at the provincial free throw championships, which will be held at Redcliff Middle School in April.
The K of C’s annual free-throw contest has been held staged in a number of countries since 1972, with more than five million youngsters competing worldwide.
