Number: 21

Hometown: Windsor Junction

Age: 20

Position: Forward

H-W: 5-9, 155 lbs.

Forward Alex MacDonald is this week’s Bearcat of the Week.

Alex picked up one goal and one assist, along with a shootout goal in the 3-2 win over Amherst last Friday, earning him first star of the game.

He followed with a two assist effort the next night in the come-from-behind

5-4 victory over the Lumberjacks.

In the same span, veterans Campbell Pickard and Cameron MacLeod contributed 11 and nine points respectively. That’s veteran leadership.

Following two seasons of midget hockey (Newbridge and Dartmouth), he elected to follow the Prep School route playing with St. Andrew’s College in Aurora, Ont., winning the Conference of Independent School Athletic Association (CISAA) title in each of his two years.

Last year, Alex suited up with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs (BCHL) and this year split the opening segment of the season between the New Jersey Hitmen and the Boston Jr. Bandits.

The 2013 Bearcat draft pick remained on Truro’s protected list. Obviously, that was a good team decision. He has plenty to offer as a quick, 200-foot player.

On tap

Tonight, the Bearcats are off to Berwick of face the Valley Wildcats at 7 p.m. Saturday, the team is in Tignish to play the Summerside Western Capitals at 7:30 p.m.
