Swan leads Pirates over Yankees

TRURO, N.S. – Liam Swan pitched three perfect innings and helped his cause with a double and two runs scored as the Pirates defeated the Yankees 8-6 in the peewee/bantam division of the Bible Hill-Truro Minor Baseball Association.

William Nelson and Ethan Fleming each singled and doubled for the winners and also saw duty on the mound. Fleming came on in the sixth with the bases loaded and got the strikeout to end the game. Dom Moore also pitched for the Pirates.

The Yankees trailed 8-0 after three innings, but clawed their way back. Zach McNutt singled and doubled, while Nate Davison doubled and pitched two scoreless innings.

Masstown Hardware Tide 15, Red Sox 14

The Tide had a comfortable lead entering the last inning before a huge comeback by the Red Sox. In the home side of the final inning the Tide rallied to pull off a one-run victory.

Zachary Dykstra led the Tide with three hits and three runs scored, while Colby Spencer, Cole Turner and Bryan Spence each reached base all three times they went to the plate, scoring eight runs in total.

Five pitchers combined on the hill for Masstown Hardware.

For the Red Sox, Logan MacKinnon and Mike Berry were strong on the bump.

Carson Upham had a solid night at the plate, with Jag Faulkner hitting a go-ahead single in the top of the sixth inning.

Blue Jays 11, Mets 5

Jake McDonald, Isaac Crowe and Gage Pratt pitched for the winners.

Pratt stroked two hits and Paige Fox added a hit.  

For the Mets, Jakob Schwartz, Evan Hennigar and Brooke Thompson pitched.  

Hennigar and Schwartz led the way with two hits each, while Jacob Mont and Quinn Hayden each added a hit.
