The Bearcats were edged 2-1 by the Kentville Wildcats at Memorial Park.

Truro opened the scoring in the sixth inning. John Chapman hit a lead-off single, stole second and later scored on a Dan Bates single.

Kentville answered in the bottom of the sixth, as Jason Pleasant-Sampson smacked a lead-of double and later scored on a fielder’s choice.

The Wildcats plated the winning run in the seventh when Pleasant-Sampson drove in Tyler Fancy with a two-out single.

Codey Shrider, in relief of Bradley Fuller, was the winning pitcher. Chapman went the distance for the Bearcats and suffered the loss.

Truro is on the road for two games in Sydney (4-1) this weekend. The teams meet Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m.
