Hundreds of runners tackle Bay of Fundy floor

FIVE ISLANDS – Even the man himself made an appearance at this year’s Not Since Moses run.

The 5k and 10k run, which happens on the Bay of Fundy floor when the tide is out, saw hundreds of runners on Sunday, including Amherst’s Daren White dressed as Moses.

In the 5k portion, 499 runners participated, with Antigonish’s Riley Kennedy finishing at 25:11, just 12 seconds ahead of Nicholas Hart of Halifax. It was Emilie Hageltorn of Ottawa coming in first for the women, with a time of 25:41.

The first Colchester County participant to cross the 5k line was Valley’s Audrie-Jo McConkey, with a time of 32:29. Truro’s Steve MacLeod came in at 34:14.

Earning the top spot in the 10k race was Halifax’s Matthew Ho with a time of 39:26. Michael Vargo, also of Halifax, came in close behind at 39:37. Melissa Allen pulled it in for the females in first place with a time of 47:40.

Economy’s Kevin Wekesa was the first to cross the finish line for Colchester County participants, coming in at 52:47.
