Red Sox take peewee baseball title

The Pizza Delight Red Sox defeated the HPI Yankees 12-7 on Wednesday in the final of the Bible Hill-Truro Peewee Baseball League championship series. The Red Sox won the best-of-three affair 2-1. Members of the team are, first row, from left, Nahu Ronaghan, Calem McAndrew, Chad Mingo, Will MacGillivray and Tyler Mabey. Second row, coach Scott MacGillivray, Mitchell Whooten, Tanner Greatorex,  Renee Bennett, Danielle Crowe and coaches Matt Mingo and Al Mingo. Absent is coach Brooke Mingo.

TRURO – The Pizza Delight Red Sox laid claim to the Bible Hill-Truro Peewee Baseball League championship on Wednesday.

The Red Sox got two hits apiece from Chad Mingo and Mitchell Whooten in a 12-7 victory over the HPI Yankees in the deciding game in the best-of-three series at Stanfield’s Diamond.

Mingo singled and doubled and Whooten swatted a pair of singles. Calem McAndrew tripled for the winners and Tanner Greatorex doubled.

Quinn Cashen singled and doubled for the Yankees who forced a deciding game with an 18-5 win on Monday. Michael Grey added two singles and Connor Angers doubled.

Greatorex, McAndrew and Mingo pitched for the Red Sox, while Darsey Pratt, Angers and Grey shared mound duties for the Yankees.
