Over 300 runners Run for the Lobster

Runners leave the start line during the 38th annual Run for the Lobster on Sunday morning in Pictou. 

PICTOU – Out-of-towners swept the Run for the Lobster on Sunday morning, winning all three events.

Matthew White of Dartmouth won the open 10k with a time of 34:57. Thomas White of Halifax was second, while Bryan Hipson of Yarmouth rounded out the top three.

Dave MacLennan of Scotsburn was the top local, finishing fifth overall at 36:45. The top female finisher was Denise Robson of Dartmouth.

In the open 5k event Mike Hennessey of Truro was the first to cross the line. His time was 18:49.

Alan Miner of Falmouth and Andreas Dutkewych of Wolfville finished second and third respectively.

Again the top local finished fifth, with Rob McDowell of Pictou finishing in 21:19. Debbie MacDonald of New Glasgow was the top female, sixth overall, with a time of 21:24.

The other 5k event was exclusively for students.

Keigan Thorpe of Truro was victorious, while Sean O’Keefe of Toronto and Aidan Canning of Antigonish rounded out the top three.

The top female was Judith Lapierre of Truro, who finished fourth.

Ryan Dykstra of Pictou was the top local, eighth overall.
