Rams women win, men beaten twice in college hoops

BIBLE HILL - There was a bright spot on the weekend for the Dalhousie Rams women's basketball team.

The Rams (3-12) defeated the Mount Allison Mounties (7-9) 52-41 Sunday in the Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association. The win came a day after the Rams fell 85-44 to the St. Thomas Tommies (13-0).

In men's Rams (1-15) team dropped both of its contests, getting topped 98-57 by Mount Allison (8-8) and suffering a 95-56 defeat to St. Thomas (9-5).

Against Mount Allison, Candace Reynolds led the Rams with 30 points, while Theresa Rankin netted 10 and Hayley Wilson had seven. Hillary Hopper chipped in five.

Reynolds also led the Rams against St. Thomas with a 15-pont effort while Wilson drained 11 and Hopper collected 10.

On the men's side, Neel Amin scored 13 points against Mount Allison with Taran Jordan getting 11 and Cody Locke collecting 10.

Against St. Thomas, Jordan sunk 16 points with Amin adding 12. Tyler MacDonald put up 11.

Both Rams squads are in action Wednesday when they host the Mystics. The women start at 6 p.m. at Langille Athletic Centre while the men's tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
