TRURO – Seven days have been set aside in October for a preliminary inquiry in the case of man charged in December with a double homicide.
Gerald Rushton was charged with two counts of first-degree murder after police found the bodies of two women at this Valley residence last December.
Gerald Rushton, 48, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his common-law wife Elizabeth MacPherson, 53, and her daughter Brittany MacPherson, 24.
The bodies of the women were found on Dec. 27 at the elder MacPherson’s home at 492 Pictou Rd., after police received a 911 call from the residence.

Preliminary inquiry dates have been set in provincial court in Truro for Oct. 6, 7, 10, 20, 21, 23 and 24. A focus hearing in advance of the prelim has been set for June 26.
Rushton remains in custody at the provincial lockup in Dartmouth.
