Prayer for the community
JAN. 31 – Open Door, personal prayer for people in the community. First Baptist Church, Prince Street, Truro. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wheelchair accessible.
Fish and chips
JAN. 31 – Royal Canadian Legion, fish and chips, Truro. 5 to 7 p.m. unless sold out. $8 per person.
Roast turkey or chicken breast supper
JAN. 31 – Debert legion. 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Supper for $10 includes main meal, dessert, tea or coffee. Everyone welcome.
JAN. 31 – St. Andrew’s United Church, Main Street, Stewiacke. 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Assorted casseroles, biscuit or roll, assorted desserts, tea and coffee. Cost is $8 a person. Takeouts available. Wheelchair accessible.
Chinese spring festival
JAN. 31 – Bible Hill village hall. 67 Pictou Rd., Bible Hill. 6:30 p.m. Admission is free with a suggested donation in support of the Zhuhui Ye Scholarship Fund. Presented by Dal AC International Student Association.
FEB. 1 – Royal Canadian Air Force Association, 102 Wing, Truro. 5 to 7 p.m. Fish cakes, beans and chow or salt cod and onions and scruhions. Music will be provided. $8 each. Members and guests.
FEB. 1 – Wentworth United Church hall. Use the side door. Ham, potato scallop, baked beans, brown break, tea and coffee, gingerbread. 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Adults, $10; children 12 and younger, $5. Storm date: Feb. 2. Sponsored by the Wentworth UCW.

FEB. 1 – Colchester Historeum’s new exhibit: The Lewis Family: Truro’s Titans of Industry. Theme: various manufacturing enterprises of the Lewis family from 1830 to the 1970s: shoe making supplies, shipping and shipbuilding, hat and clothing manufacturing and lumbering. Opens at 2 p.m.
