Rams fall to Mystics, Hurricanes in college basketball

BIBLE HILL – It was another tough weekend on the basketball court for the Dalhousie Rams.

The Rams men’s and women’s teams were swept by the Mount St. Vincent Mystics and Holland College Hurricanes in the Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association. The men fell to the Mystics 91-52 after getting topped 102-56 by the Hurricanes. The women fell 78-36 to the Mystics after a 73-48 setback to the Hurricanes.

The Rams men (1-12-0) sit last among eight teams while the women (2-10-0) are seventh.

Taran Jordan and Devin Elsemore led the Rams with 12 points apiece against Mount St. Vincent (10-4-0) while Marcus Robinson netted nine. Mac Ellis scored a game-high 17 for the Mystics.

Jordan poured in a game-high 19 points against the Hurricanes (11-2-0) and Ryan Thompson had 10. Orlando Palmer led the Hurricanes with 16.

On the women’s side, Candace Reynolds paced the Rams against the Mystics (9-5-0) with 14 points while Hillary Hopper collected 10. Emma Reardon and Marika Williams each scored 17 to lead the Mystics.

Against Holland College (10-2-0), Hayley Wilson scored a game-high 25 points for the Rams, who also got 13 from Reynolds. Jenea Barrett drained 16 for the Hurricanes.

Both Rams squads are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Halifax to take on the Kings Blue Devils. The women tip off at 6 p.m. while the men do battle at 8 p.m.
