Millbrook shooting suspects to be charged with attempted murder

MILLBROOK – Two suspects in a New Year’s Day shooting in Millbrook are expected to be charged with attempted murder, police say.

The unidentified pair, a 21-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were arrested without incident after a search warrant was executed at a Dartmouth residence on Jan. 2.

The suspects are now in the custody of Millbrook RCMP.

The woman is expected to be charged with attempted murder and assault with a weapon. The man is expected to be charged with attempted murder.  

Police were called to a Millbrook residence at about 2:40 a.m. on Jan. 1 where two men were found injured in a shooting.

A preliminary investigation revealed one person, a 25-year-old man from Millbrook, was shot with a firearm. He was transferred to the Colchester East Hants Health Centre with non-life threatening injuries, and later transported to the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax.

A second victim, a 19-year-old man, also from Millbrook, was pepper sprayed. He was treated at the hospital in Truro and later released.

The investigation is continuing and further charges are anticipated against both suspects.
