Students at École acadienne de Truro walked to school from Victoria Park on Friday to participate in ‘Walk to School Month.’
All the students from grades primary to 12 were dropped off at the park and walked to school.
The 1.36-kilometre walk was a breeze for most, but for the two primary classes, it was quite the adventure. Many of the students waved to passing motorists while skipping along the sidewalk.
October is ‘Walk to School Month’ and École acadienne de Truro has been participating since 2005. The goals of the movement are to give students, parents and community members the opportunity to celebrate the sense of belonging to a larger movement, to highlight the many benefits of walking, to create a safe walking environment and to raise awareness for the environment.
