The Sussex man was driving 135 km/h in a 50 km/h zone and was also charged with impaired driving after being stopped just before midnight Monday.

An RCMP news release said officers with Northern Traffic Services were conducting traffic enforcement on Pictou Road when they clocked a 2006 Mazda 626 travelling at the high rate of speed.

“After initiating a traffic stop, the male driver exhibited signs of impairment and was taken to Bible Hill where he provided samples of his breath,” the release said.

The man’s vehicle was seized and he also faces a monetary penalty of $2,412.41.

He is to appear in provincial court in Truro on March 26 on the impaired driving charge.
