Police are continuing their investigations in both the Amber Kirwan and Ed Phalen homicide cases, but had nothing new to report Sunday, said Sgt. Brigdit Leger, media spokesperson for the RCMP.
The Mounties said Saturday they have found items related to Amber Kirwan's murder in a blue Hyundai Elantra seized last week in relation to the homicide investigation.
Leger said that items had been seized from the vehicle and were being sent for further analysis.
She refused to elaborate on what types of items were found or where they were being sent for testing.
The Elantra was seized in the Caribou River area on Nov. 10. Because the investigation into the vehicle is complete, the car has been released, she said.

Kirwan, 19, was last seen alive as she left Dooly's in New Glasgow on Oct. 9. She was headed towards Big Al's to meet her boyfriend, but never arrived. After a massive search, her body was found in a wooded area of Heathbell Nov. 5.
Phalen was shot in front of his Trenton home on Oct. 25. No arrests have been made in either case.
Police have said they don't have any evidence to suggest the homicides are related at this point.
