Peggy White

WHITE, Peggy – 88, Truro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday morning, August 31, 2018, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late James and Priscilla (Bennett) MacPhail. Peggy was a true Cape Bretoner who had a sassy spirit and a generous heart. From her living room, she traveled the world through the many post cards that family and friends sent her from the places they visited. Her family will remember her love of bingo, lotto tickets, cooking, baking and how proud she was of her grandchildren. Peggy is survived by her sons, Barry White (Klowa Bartlett), Windsor; Robert “Bob” (Lori Ann) White, Central Onslow; step daughter, Trish MacLeod (Art McManus), Hilden; sister-in-law, Muriel MacPhail, Truro; grandchildren, Shawn White, Robin White (Fiancé, Mikel Derksen), Connor White; step grandson, Lance Phillips; nephew, Brian Fowlie. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Roderick James White; companion, Charlie MacLeod; twin brother, Earl MacPhail. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Peggy’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, September 2, 2018, and funeral service 11 a.m., Monday, September 3, 2018, Reverend Valerie Kingsbury officiating. (At Peggy’s request, please dress casually and in bright colours.) Reception will follow. Interment in Bible Hill Cemetery. Family flowers only.
