Dorothy Ruby Isobel (Langille) Mccallum
97, Truro. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great-grandmother, aunt and friend on Sunday, July 1, 2018 in the Mira Long Term Care Centre, Truro. Born in Moser River, Halifax, Co., she was the daughter of the late William and Lucy Anne (Naugler) Langille. The family moved to Riversdale, Colchester County when Dorothy was one year old. She grew up working on the farm doing what she loved best, working outdoors, and enjoying her love for nature. She was a devoted mother, putting her family first. She had a great love for music and enjoyed playing her fiddle along with other instruments. She leaves behind a “legacy” of five generations; son, Cecil, daughters, Sylvia, Fran (Keith Mingo), Betty, Audrey (Gordon Farrell), all of Truro; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great- grandchildren; sisters, Martha Annand and Mary Forsyth, both of Truro; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband George McCallum; son Russell; brothers, Robert, Chester, Elmer, Doug; sisters, Jean, Muriel, Lillian, Mildred; grandchildren P.J. and Raymond. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. A private family graveside service will take place on Saturday in MacLean Cemetery, Riversdale with Reverend Donna Lawrence officiating. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the MacLean Cemetery. A special thanks to the staff of the Mira for all their care and compassion.
