One person is dead after a twovehicle collision Friday afternoon in Lunenburg County.

Emergency crews were called to the collision in the 300 block of the Forties Road near New Ross at 1 p.m.

RCMP said a 44-year-old woman died in the collision, and two children were transported by Lifeflight to the IWK children’s hospital in Halifax. One had injuries described as serious, and the other had injuries described as non-life threatening.

Cpl. Dal Hutchinson said all three were in the same vehicle. The 52-year-old woman driving the other vehicle was taken to hospital with injuries that were non-life threatening.

Sources say the woman who died had picked up at least one of the children from Sherbrooke Lake Camp, a week-long summer camp program on Sherbrooke Lake. Hutchinson said he couldn’t confirm that.
