BIBLE HILL, N.S.
While touring the new Bible Hill Consolidated School Tuesday morning Zach
Churchill, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, remarked that it was the nicest school he had ever visited.
Churchill was one of the dignitaries who joined students and staff for the school’s official opening Tuesday.
“I know this school will be a great place for the next generation of Bible Hill community leaders, business people, public servants, scientists… maybe there’s an astronaut or two in there,” he said when speaking to those gathered in the gymnasium. It will be so important for your learning and development, but I know it will also serve as an important hub and centre for this community as it moves forward and serves many generations.”
The announcement that a new school would be built to replace Bible Hill Central and East Court Road Elementary was made in August 2014. The new building, which includes more than 200 students in Grades Primary to 4, as well as a pre-Primary class, opened in September.
The state-of-the art facility includes a learning centre and sensory room for students with special needs, gender neutral washrooms, a cafeteria, quiet reading area, music room and stage, as well as bright classrooms.
The cost of the new school was more than $14.5 million.
