TRURO< N.S. – Town of Truro staff have recommended council enter into a development agreement that would allow the former Truro Alliance Church building to become a multiple unit residential building.

Meech Holdings Limited submitted plans showing the conversion of the church, at 29 Philip Street, into seven dwelling units; four with two bedrooms and three one-bedroom units.

The application also includes plans for construction of a single-storey unit containing four two-bedroom townhouses, each with a garage, at 37 Philip Street.

If approved, work is expected to begin on the former church building in late November, and on construction of the new building in the spring.

The Truro Alliance Church is planning to construct a new building. Its congregation currently gathers on Sundays at the Nova Scotia Community College, Truro campus.
