DARTMOUTH, NS

A 26-year-old man is facing several charges after an incident at an Esso on Main Street in Dartmouth.

At 8:30 p.m. on November 21, a male, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs, entered the business, made a couple phone calls, and became increasingly agitated. After two female employees asked him to leave he locked the entrance door and pushed the employees behind the counter. One of the employees and a passerby called 911 and when police arrived, the suspect allowed one of the employees to unlock the door.

The man resisted arrest, kicking at and spitting on the officers. He was eventually controlled and transported to hospital to be assessed.

A suspect has been charged with unlawful confinement, assault, assaulting police, resisting arrest, breach of probation, and possession of narcotics.
