A Moncton man is facing several charges after an SUV was stolen from a service station on Pictou Road Tuesday, February 20.

The vehicle was stolen while the owner was paying for his fuel around 8:45 a.m.

Colchester District RCMP located the SUV on Robie St., in Lower Truro, but when they tried to stop it, it left the area at a high rate of speed.

The suspect and vehicle were located a short time later in the area of Hwy. 311, in North River. RCMP officers were assisted by members of the RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit and RCMP Police Dog Service contained the scene and arrested the suspect without incident.

Twenty-one-year-old Mitchell Speight, of Moncton, was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, operation of a motor vehicle while being pursued by police, failing to comply with a probation order (x2) and theft of a motor vehicle.
