Around 9 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to Fisher Drive and found the 51-year-old victim suffering from a single stab wound.
Police say the female suspect then fled in a nearby wooded area with a knife. A police service dog was called in, along with members of Halifax Regional Regional, when the woman refused to come out of the woods.
Cpl. Mark Skinner of the Halifax RCMP says the woman received a bite from the police dog while being taken into custody. Due to her injury, the province’s Serious Incident Response Team is now investigating how the arrest was handled by police.
The injured man suffered serious due to being stabbed and was released from hospital on Wednesday.
Police won’t say what the relationship is between the victim and the accused, only that the “two know each other.”
“There was an argument and a stabbing ensued,” Skinner said of the incident.
The accused is now being held in police custody until her court appearance on Thursday. She is also charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.
