EAST VILLAGE, N.S.

Two men have been arrested following an extensive investigation into a rash of break and enters in Colchester County.

Colchester RCMP General Investigation Section executed a search warrant April 28 at a home in East Village. As a result, several stolen items were recovered, including a Jeep stolen from a car dealership in October 2017. Police also found and seized unsafely-stored firearms in the home.

A 21-year-old man was arrested. The investigation alleges the man was responsible for several thefts, including a Honda ATV at a campground in December 2017.

A second individual who’s alleged to be involved in the thefts, as well as others near Pictou Road last month, was also identified. The 33-year-old man was arrested in his home.

Both are alleged to have been involved in other thefts at locations in the Greenfield, Belmont Mountain and the Riversdale Road areas during the fall of 2017 and winter of 2018.

They were released and are scheduled to appear in Truro Provincial Court on July 18.

The 21-year-old man is facing charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000, multiple charges of break and enter, unsafe storage of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm. The 33-year-old man is facing charges of theft of a vehicle over $5,000, theft of an ATV over $5,000 and several charges of break and enter.

RCMP says the investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected.
