TRURO, N.S. – Last year it was cold, wet, windy and there were no more than a few hundred bikes.
This year it was sunny, warmer, windy and they might still be tallying up the number of bikes.
The annual Blessing of the Bikes was held Saturday at Victoria Park with an overwhelming turnout from throughout the Maritime provinces.
The event largely serves to kick off the open road season for many motorcycle enthusiasts. It’s a chance to rekindle friendships for many, including people who may only see each other this time of year in Truro. And, of course, there is the shared hope for a safe time on the roads for all.
Truro Mayor Bill Mills addressed the huge crowd and conceded some might have had a bumpy ride in. At the same time, he assured everyone that money has been earmarked by the town that will be used to address some of the problems with local roads.
