Concert goers are seen enjoying themselves during last summer's Dutch Mason Blues Festival at the Truro Raceway. The festival is no longer being held at the site.

“I don’t know what their plans are,” said Steve Pottie, general manager of the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition, which owns the raceway. “(The) Dutch Mason Blues Festival will not be happening at the Truro Raceway, for sure.”

Pottie said it was decided that holding the annual blues festival at the raceway was no longer a “good mix” for the facility

“It wasn’t a good opportunity for our facility to partner with them in any way shape or form or have them as a client,” he said. “It was just something whose time had come.”

The three-day festival, which was founded by Halifax-area promoter David DeWolfe, celebrated its 10th anniversary last year. The first two festivals were held in Dartmouth while the past eight festivals were held at the raceway. When that partnership was announced, by then NSPE board chairman Jeff Yuill, the raceway was cited as the permanent home for the festival.

Messages left on DeWolfe’s voicemail by the Truro Daily News for comment were not returned.

As well, the festival website has so far not been updated with any reference to a 2015 concert.
