Truro police were seeking a remand order earlier Saturday that would allow them to hold the 23-year-old male until the next available court date.

He is being charged with robbery, break and enter to commit the offence of robbery, assault, using a weapon (a knife) during the commission of an offence, wearing a mask during the commission of the offence, attempted robbery (of a second person in the home) and breaching a court order.

Also in connection with this matter, an 18-year-old male from Truro was arrested Friday and will face charges of flight from police and damage to property in relation to the accident that occurred on Lyman Street after the accused failed to stop for police. He was released from custody on an undertaking and will appear in Truro court at a later date.

Police had reported a man wearing a mask forced his way into a Truro home early Thursday morning and demanded money. When the homeowner tried to call police the man knocked the phone from the person’s hand and fled.

Truro Police were called around 6 a.m. and spotted the suspect vehicle leaving the area. When they tried to pull it over it took off at a speed that made pursuit unsafe for the public. The vehicle was located shortly after it struck a house in the Brunswick Street area, but the driver had already taken off. A K-9 unit tried to track the suspect but was unsuccessful.

The investigation continues and police say more charges are expected.
