Police investigating break, enter and theft at local hotel

LOWER TRURO - A 58-year-old female suffered minor injuries to her face and foot after what police believes was a crime of opportunity.

At around 4 a.m. Oct. 10, the Colchester RCMP responded to a complaint of a break, enter and theft at the Comfort Inn in Lower Truro.

A preliminary investigation has determined a suspect entered one of the rooms through an unlocked exterior door. When confronted by the lone occupant of the room – an Antigonish woman – the suspect struck the victim and fled with a quantity of cash.

The suspect is described as a male, 5’11”, with light tanned skin.

The RCMP is continuing the investigation.
