TRURO - Home decorators rejoice, a new "niche market" store is now available in Truro.

"Trendy, traditional and timeless," said Liz Toole, of the tagline for a new store she and sister-in-law Anne Toole are setting up in a portion of the former Margolians building.

Called Above and Beyond Home Décor, the store will offer such items as prints, lighting, kitchenware, small appliances, pillows and throws, kitchen linens, cloth napkins, place mats, dishes, tablewares and rugs.

"Essentially we're offering accents for the home," business partner Anne said.

"We'll also have a small line of kind of unique furnishings, which we can special order."

Those include such items as tables and chairs, couches and beds.

"Sort of one ofs," she said. "There's all different styles of chairs."

The partners say they are trying to provide local shoppers with unique or different items normally only found in larger markets.

"So, we're just really trying to fill a niche that we feel is missing in Truro. I'm kind of an avid decorator myself, I'm always renovating and so I feel these are things I have to go to the city to get for the most part," Anne said. "They're not available in Truro. So that's kind of what we set out to do. Now they will be available in Truro."

"Not just home décor but gifts," addend Liz. "I think we're filling a huge void ... . Are you going to find some of this stuff elsewhere? Yes, but not in the big box stores or anything like that. Nowhere local."

The store, which is located in the rear of the main former Margolians on Havelock Street, will have its "soft" opening on Saturday with a grand opening planned for the near future.

"Everyone's talking about shopping local but we're finding for (the) home, to get anything different or unique, we can't shop local," Anne said.

"So we're giving people the chance to shop local."
