Military training to resume in local area

TRURO, N.S. – Colchester County-area residents can once again expect an increased military presence and noise levels this weekend.

The North Nova Scotia Highlanders and the Cape Breton Highlanders will be conducting training exercises in the vicinities of Debert and McCallum Settlement on Saturday and Sunday.

Exercise participants will carry weapons and blank ammunition and pyrotechnics will be used. Members of the public are asked to follow safety instructions should they approach or encounter soldiers and vehicles during the training procedures.

The realistic training is required to ensure the operational effectiveness of the Canadian Armed Forces.
