Judge David Ryan reserved decision after presiding Monday over a bail hearing for Jennifer Lynn MacLeod, 22, of Calabash Road, Boularderie.
MacLeod is charged with aggravated assault, wearing a disguise (a bandana) in committing an offence and two counts of breaching court orders.
MacLeod and five others are charged with the July 14 attack on 48-year-old Shawn Kurtis Jack.
Jack was found bloodied and bruised in the parking lot of the Atlantic Superstore and is now in a Halifax hospital with serious head and other injuries. Jack was living in a homemade shelter, along with his dog, in woods behind the Superstore in North Sydney.
Also Monday, bail hearing dates were assigned to other accused in the case.
Gordon William Bobbitt, 47, of North Sydney, is charged with obstruction of justice and appeared in court Monday via video from the Cape Breton Correctional Centre.
The Crown is objecting to his release and a bail hearing is now scheduled for Wednesday.
Also in court Monday was James Darren Clarke, 34, of North Sydney, who is charged with obstruction of justice. He also appeared via video and is now scheduled for a bail hearing Wednesday.
While in custody, all of the accused are to have no contact with each other.
Both men were arrested over the weekend as Cape Breton Regional Police continue their investigation into the beating of Jack.
As part of their investigation, police have reported seizing a wrench and a bandana from a home in North Sydney. Some of the accused are charged with wearing a disguise in committing an offence and police alleged the disguise was a bandana.
Corey Patrick Blinkhorn of Sydney Mines was arrested in the town on Monday, ending a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest. Blinkhorn was being sought for attempted murder, aggravated assault, wearing a disguise while committing an offence and impersonating a police officer.
Also charged with attempted murder is Kyle William Nichol, 25, of King Street, North Sydney. He is also charged with aggravated assault, wearing a disguise (a bandana) in committing an offence and two counts of breaching court orders.
He is scheduled to return to court July 31 to enter pleas to the charges.
Another accused, a 16-year-old girl from North Sydney, is charged with aggravated assault, wearing a disguise (a bandana) in committing an offence and two counts of breaching court orders.
She is scheduled in youth court Tuesday for a bail hearing on the charges.
