TRURO - Two men involved in a shootout with Truro police following a home invasion in May have each been sentenced to seven years federal time.

Christian Spears, 20, and Shawn Kenneth Hughes, 19, were each given credit for 71 days of remand time prior to their sentencing in provincial court in Truro on Friday.

Spears was convicted on charges of break enter and theft at 11 Lyman St., on May 17, using a firearm (a .22 calibre rifle) to rob James Guest, pointing a firearm at Guest and using a firearm during a break and enter.
