TRURO, NS
A 30-year-old Halifax man is facing a long list of charges, several involving firearms, after police were called to a Truro drinking establishment early Sunday morning.
Police were called about a man having a firearm inside the business. When they arrived they found a loaded Regent 1911 A1 .45 calibre handgun and arrested Albert Roy Francis (Jr).
He has been charged with carrying a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public peace (for both a handgun and a knife), carrying a concealed weapon without being authorized to do so, possessing an unlicensed restricted weapon, having a loaded restricted firearm, failing to comply with probation orders (keep the peace, not to consume alcohol, not to possess a weapon, abide by a curfew). The probation orders were made by both Halifax and Sydney courts.
He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Truro today.
