TATAMAGOUCHE – More than 40 businesses and services will be showcased here on May18 during a community expo.

The expo is an initiative of Scotiabank Tatamgouche to give local businesses a platform where they can show the public what services and products they have access to close home.

“We came up with the idea of the Community Expo about a year ago,” said Donna Matheson, customer service manager at the branch. “We do so much fundraising for the non-profit organizations in our community and wanted to find a way to give back to the Business Sector.”

Matheson said supporting local is what keeps a small community like Tatamagouche strong.

The event will be held on May 18 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. ay the North Shore recreation centre, 30 Blair Ave.

The lower level of the arena will be used as a showcase area, while the second level, which is wheelchair accessible, will feature guest speakers every hour.

Some topics to be covered include wills and estate planning, investment planning, the healing tree, government energy incentives, buying and selling properties and small business solutions.

“We wanted to provide a wide variety of topics and feel that there is really something for everyone no matter at what age,” said Matheson. “We have brought in experts in these fields and really hope the public will take advantage of these talks.”

A question period will follow each discussion.

This event is free of charge, but will donations will be accepted for the centre. Also, a barbecue will be held during the event with proceeds for the centre.
