Construction is well underway, and the Colchester Food Bank expects to move into its new building in late November.

The building is being constructed, at 580 Prince Street, by businessman and property manager Joe Pinto, who owns the land. Once it is complete, the food bank will buy the building and property for $600,000, plus HST.

The building will include offices, a waiting area, interview room, and about 3,000 square feet of storage space. A community/teaching kitchen will be added in the future.

The food bank has raised almost half of the funds needed, and is working to raise more. The Community Credit Union has agreed to provide an interest-free loan.

The food bank has been operating out of a temporary site at the corner of Forrester and Esplanade for about two and a half years, since the former Logan Street building was demolished.
