BROOKFIELD - Brookfield residents are preparing for a popular annual event that kicks off the Christmas season.

The community's Christmas home tours take place on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. each night, as well as at Forest Glen Greenhouse in the afternoons from 2 to 4:30 p.m.

Homes being featured this year include Lorna and Duane Rath, Sheila and Wayne Johnson, Kathy and Charlie Weatherbee and Gail and Darrell Wright. The community's train station will also be decorated for the tour.

In addition, a craft sale will be held at Knox United Church each night and will include refreshments. There will also be a Christmas supper, with advance tickets, at the train station both evenings with settings at 4:30 and 5:15 p.m. Tickets are $7.

Another highlight of the weekend is the festival of trees and stockings. Groups, businesses, schools and individuals are invited to fill stockings with gifts for the Christmas Index Program.

More information can be obtained by calling Russ at 673-3448 or Donna at 673-2812. Tickets for the home tour cost $10 and can be purchased at the church, MacQuarries Pharmasave and at the homes on the tour. Transportation is also available from the church hall.
