But Marilyn Roberts, spokesperson for the North Shore group nonetheless praised community members for trying.
“Thank you to everyone for voting,” she said, in an e-mailed news release. “We gave it a great effort and once again it has been proven that our community spirit and support for the NSRC is alive and well.”
Roberts said her group will try again next year but, in the meantime, an appreciation day is planned so community members who participated can receive a “pat on the back” for their efforts.
On Dec. 4, from 1 to 2 p.m., an open house will be held at the rink, along with free skating and refreshments. There will also be an official presentation of a $25,000 cheque from Hockeyville.
