Blizzard in Truro - Photos from Monday

Published on February 13, 2017

TRURO, N.S. - Snow and blowing snow kept most people inside Monday - but your Truro Daily News reporters were out and took some photos around town and found some people shovelling or out for a walk.

The streets of Truro were full of snow but empty of traffic Monday, Feb. 13.

Blizzard conditions reduced visibility to near zero and made driving tricky, especially on sidestreets or in areas prone to drifting.

Every school and nearly every business and office was closed Monday and depending on when the wind stops pushing snow around, you can expect a lot of cancellations Tuesday too.

Environment Canada is forecasting the snow and blowing snow to continue to hammer Colchester County until Tuesday morning.

The forecast is giving another 10 to 15 cm tonight with winds continuing at 60 kmh gusting to 90, dropping to 50 gusting to 80 after midnight.

The wind will drop further by sunrise to about 40 gusting to 60 and they are giving maybe 2 cm in flurries for the day tomorrow

Colchester County will have Tuesday and most of Wednesday to shovel out and catch our breath before another batch of snow, possibly switching to rain, hits Wednesday night.

Please feel free to share your snow day photos with the Daily News: we'd love to see whaat you got up, whether it was shovelling, sledding, baking or playing Scrabble.
